I hope you succeeded in enjoy all these things and more. That said, the world of entertainment never sleeps, and this is particularly true for the realm of anime. Many noteworthy announcements surfaced during the holidays, and should you missed a few, here is a summary of the most exciting bits.
The One-Punch Man Series Season 3 Is Set to Continue (Come 2027)
Truly the biggest revelation, the widely-criticized disaster that was season 3 of One-Punch Man wasn't enough to halt further production. The show will be back with a second cour in 2027—a date so remote they could have dubbed it season 4. Even more shocking, animation studio J.C. Staff will continue to be at the helm. At least this time, director Shinpei Nagai is attached to direct from the beginning, which could be taken as a good sign. However, the key visual for the continuation is a mirror of the one used for season 3, just with protagonists Saitama and Garou looking opposite ways. This makes me think that, nowadays, they must be mocking the fans.
Ruri Dragon Is Poised to Be the First Shonen Jump Anime From Kyoto Animation
Kyoto Animation has forged a reputation for being an top-tier animation studio, distinguishing itself not just for the high caliber of its output but for the ethical practices of its employees—a uncommon practice in the industry. Unexpectedly, until now, it had never worked on an anime stemming from a manga published in Shonen Jump, possibly the most famous magazine in the field. Ruri Dragon will change that, and what a excellent choice it is. The manga by Masaoki Shindo became massive popularity when it first appeared in 2022 after just a handful of installments, but then went into a two-year hiatus due to the author's health issues. When it resumed publication with a more relaxed pace, the series demonstrated it maintained the fans' appreciation and enthusiasm, and now fans are ecstatic about the forthcoming KyoAni adaptation.
Kingdom Its Sixth Season Has a Sequel Now in the Works
Kingdom is the highly popular, epic Shueisha manga that is other than One Piece. If you've never heard of it before, it's because it only recently got an English release, but the anime has been airing for a while, and season 6 was yet another outstanding entry. Apparently that was just the first cour, because a "sequel" has been confirmed as in development, and it will probably premiere in 2026.

One more studio renowned for the superior craftsmanship of its projects, Science Saru has delivered hit shows of the caliber of Space Dandy, Devilman Crybaby, and, lastly, Dandadan. This time, the studio will be taking on the adaptation of Tomato Soup's manga A Witch's Life in Mongol, based on the actual historical person of Fatima, an powerful woman and thinker in the Mongol Empire in the 13th century. Judging from the trailer, the anime called Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia will have a truly original and fascinating visual style, which evokes Ranking of Kings. Set to premiere in July 2026, this one will absolutely be on my watchlist.
