Summers remarked in a release that he was "thankful for the chance to have contributed, excited about the promise of the company, and look forward observing their advancement".
Summers, who previously presided over Harvard University, declared on earlier this week that he would be withdrawing from public responsibilities due to his connections with Jeffrey Epstein.

He added that he wanted "to restore confidence and fix bonds with the individuals closest to me".

Following his declaration on earlier this week, the Washington think tank, a liberal think tank in DC where the professor was a senior fellow, announced that he was no longer affiliated with the institution.
Summers became part of the leadership of the technology firm, which creates the AI chatbot, in last year - following a failed attempt to oust its top executive OpenAI's head.
