Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Deadly Road Accident

The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities stated on late Wednesday. The fighter was involved in a car accident in the Lagos area on December 29th, a tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of two of his valued colleagues.

Under Observation for Minor Injuries

The boxer had been receiving medical attention while recovering from minor injuries, representatives stated earlier on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on X that Joshua was declared medically stable to continue his recovery at home.

“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the commissioner stated.

A Tribute to the Fallen

The victims of the crash were identified as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. The official further stated that the champion was filled with sorrow and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two dear friends.”
